You Make Enough Money to be Exactly Where You Are.

You Also Spend Enough Money to be Exactly Where You Are.

You make enough and you spend enough

No I don’t! (Frustrated sputtering noises.) I went to college and while I was there, everyone ruined the economy and then I couldn’t find a job and then my parents were super lame and stuff!

Yeah! I agree with the college kid! I didn’t go to college, but the gub’ment is to blame!
My husband doesn’t make enough!
My wife has a poverty mindset!
My kids are expensive! (But I love them) and my mom is needy!
Taxes are too high!
Interest rates are too high!
Inflation is too high!
The grass is too high…and the lawn mower doesn’t work!

Now that we’ve got all of that out of our system let’s assess the statement again. “You make enough to be exactly where you are.”

If only I made more money! As the resident poor guy this was my mantra for years. As it turns out, I always made enough money to be ok.

Q. BUT WHO WANTS TO JUST BE OK?
A. Everyone

It is very easy to live life in a state of desire rather than in a state of contentment. I contend that everyone is trying to get to “ok,” though the means to that end often become the goal.

Once I get married, I’ll be ok. Once we have kids, I’ll be ok. Once I get that raise/new job/bonus, I’ll be able to buy/pay off xyz and then I’ll be ok.

It never ends.

In the next few posts I’ll be discussing what it means to make enough and spend enough to be exactly where you are. I’ll also begin to lay out the important changes that you can make to turn your life around.

This is Finances for Poor People.
